Practice of in-service tank cleaning of crude oil tank

  • Imperfection in oil tank cleaning with human or mechanical method seems distressed issue to deal with in field, while site facilities in hand is effective to in-service jet the dead oil with hot oil of tank. Pilot experiments with the hot oil jetting launched in the ShanShan Initial Pumping Station of West Oil Pipeline. 4 oil tanks hot-oil jetted, and a satisfactory result appeared with a < 0.5-m height dead oil. The experience showed that the total costs in tank cleaning for individual oil tank could be saved up to 2.095 million ¥RMB/yr, not directly discharging benzene, anthracene and pyrene to pollute environment. The practice displayed that the method could be in-service operated to enable it to improve the capacity of tank with the shortcutting, environmentfriendly and economic features. On the other hand, this method could be a fundamental laid for a long-term and safe operation of oil tank and a new concept to work with in in-service dead oil cleaning inland.
