The fire safety of LNG tankfarm

There are fire hazards in LNG tankfarm for the reasons, including lack of necessary fire protection knowledge and safety consciousness, inattentive supervision on the fire extinguishment authorities, etc. Two fire and explosion cases in oil & gas filling station in Shanghai and the feed additive factory in Weinan, Shanxi are given and analyzed. Starting from fuel, combustion-supporting material, ignition source, the three elements of gas explosion, the measures to prevent fire accidents and the problems to be focused to in fire fighting are summarized. It is considered that the key point in fire protection for LNG tankfarm is to prevent fire, if the fire were occurred, the next step in fire fighting would prevent the secondary explosion.
