Plastic Collapse Pressure of Extruded Piping Branch Junctions: Experimental Results and Numerical Simulation

  • The collapse behavior of 2 typical homemade extruded piping branch tees, under internal pressure loading, was examined experimentally. Dimensional surveys were also conducted. Finally, the feasibility of finite element (FE) simulations of test case was discussed. The results show that the limit pressure of extruded piping branch tee is not smaller than the theoretical limit value of straight pipe, and its collapes behavior can be imaged by FE model based on some simplification and hypothesis.
