Research on Yielding Behavior of Xinjiang Gelled Crude Oil

  • The yielding behavior of gelled waxy crude oil has an important influence on the start-up of gelled crude oil pipeline. The yielding behavior of Xinjiang crude oil was studied by means of stress-controlled rheometer (RS75). The experiment results display that the gelled crude oil is visco-elastic material. When shear strain γ is less than critical linear strain γcl of gelled crude oil, the gelled crude oil behaves as linear visco-elastic solid. When 7 is larger than γcl and less than critical yielding strain γcy, it displays non-linear visco-elasticity. When γ is larger than γcy, the gelled crude oil really flows. So the criterion ascertaining gelled crude oil flow is γcy, and not its yielding value. But the yielding value is closely related to the construct properties of gelled crude oil.
