Roof Structures of the Fixed Roof Tank

  • This paper comprehensively recommends some forms of the roof structure which are frequently used in tank enginnering, and briefly describes their structural features, operating ranges and serviceable conditions. Through analysis, it is considered that a few lattice domes which have been developed by domestic manufacturing plants recently possess particular popularized value for large fixed roof tanks with a volume of 10000 m3 and above. However, the following cases should be taken notice of : the theoretical analysis, design and calculation of these roof structures as well as the preparation of structural members and the installation of roofs at a construction site are comparatively complicated, and therefore the design and construction of these tanks need to be fulfiled by a qualified unit; reliable and practical structures of the lattice dome should be selected so as to popularize and continuously perfect them; technical problems which are related to the safety application of these tanks should be paid enough attention to. In addition, other types of the roof structure should be taken into full consideration too.
