Applied Experiments on Drag Reducer in Home Oil Transportation Pipelines

  • Drag reducer is a kind of chemicals consisted in high molecular polymer, which can reduce the frictional drag for the liquid flowing within pipe. The paper analyzes the mechanism and behavior of drag reduction of drag reducer, and emphatically introduces the applied experiments on the abroad drag reducers used in home oil pipelines. The effectiveness of the drag reducers have been proved by experiments. Meanwhile, the paper points out that applying the drag reducer on home oil pipelines opens up broad prospects in increasing the throughput, saving energy and reduction loss as well as improving economical and social benefits.
