Canada's Interprovincial Pipeline

  • The operation and management of the Interprovincial Pipeline System in Canada are introduced in detail in the way of inspection report. The pipeline system, which undergose constantly constructing and developing nearly 50 years, is a liquid pipeline system with the largest operation scope, the longest distance and the most complicated transportation process in the world. The trunkline length of the pipeline approximately covers one-sixth of the length oil products pipelines in the world. Besides crude oil, oil products and LNG, the pipeline transports methane, propane, butane and many kinds of petrochemical syntheses. It has advanced and integrated controlling ways, such as, adopting SCADA and computers in automatic control, high efficiency in operation dispatch, tracing the batch of mediums transported with in-line pressure survey and density metering in batch transportation, and monitoring the leakage location and spillage with computer monitoring system. Meanwhile, the pipeine company has got some successful experiences in strengthening the operators' quality and competing in international market.
