On the Design and Operation of LPG Tank Farms

When selected as fuel LPG is beneficial to the environmental conservation and convenient for the daily lives of cities. At present, the trend taking LPG as fuel is rapidly growing in the coastal cities of China. LPG is consisted in propane and butane, which has to be usually stored separately. The storage method is classified as the pressured storage at ordinary temperature and the normal pressure storage at low temperature. The paper separately introduces the design specifications of these two methods. The low temperature-normal pressure LPG tank is divided into two types, one is double wall metal type, and the other is PS type. The structure features, material requirements, design principle and the results of performance test of the two tanks are described respectively. It is suggested that the more cooperations with foreign countries in LPG design, construction and operation should be carried out in order to master the LPG storage technology.
