Corrosion Control for Buried Pipeline

  • Corrosion control is an important guarantee for a long and safety service of underground-pipeline. Effective corrosion control relies on comprehension of environment, proper design of corrosion protection, fine work quality and proper maintenance. The article describes the problems of corrosion control existing in underground long-distance pipeline which is concerned with coat design, work quality, maintenance and management. Evaluation for soil-corrosion, interference corrosion and pipeline rout environment and identification to soil condition are preparation for coating plan, foundation of corrosion protection and extra corrosion protection design. Correct corrosion design should follow a principle which is to stabilize the internal reliability of system with lower, corrosion risk. It points out that we should attend to : 1. Reliability of technical performance & feasibility 2. Technology of weld coating, mending and pipeline coating 3. Stability of pipeline covering. On prerequisite of obtaining optical design plan and fine work quality, it is possible to realize its continuous effective and ideal corrosion control with proper maintenance.
