How to Select the Types of Compressors & Drivers for Design of Long-distance Natural Gas Pipeline

  • The world gas industry is speeding up nowadays. How to select compressors and drivers in design of long-distance gas pipeline is one of the most important contents. The article has introduced the specifica- tions and characters of compressors made by several world well-known companies. In the view of installation and production of compressing stations for natural gas pipeline network abroad, comparing the situation that there is no intermediate compressing station under operation for long distance gas transportation in China, comparing the existing technology, equipment and management level, it suggests that the principle for selecting turbine and compressor combination should be High Power and Less Units. The article has also indicated that the major problem existing in compressing combination made in domestic is unstable in performance, short service life, high energy consumed, low efficient and product serial is so limited that it can not meet the requirement of petroleum industry. The comparison between different type of compressors and drivers in respects of technical function and application is shown clearly. The specification of some products manufactured in 1995 by large foreign companies and prices of these products are also shown in this article.
