  • The paper introduces basic principle, insertion procedure and property of the insertion technology for PE plastic pipe which is widely used in the pipeline corrosion protection, and especially a new rolling insertion method of medium density polyethylene pipe.It is proved by practice that the pipeline lined with the rolling insertion method not only seldom leaks, but also suits to the slushy fluid because the PE linef has high roundness, low frictional drag factor and high resistance to chemical corrosion.Comparing with the conventional sliding insertion method, the pulling load of rolling insertion method is low, the PE liner is easy to run through the pipe elbow without plugging, but the surface preparation of internal pipe wall and a certain environmental condition had to be needed.After insertion, the air filling operation, including pressuring air to 0.2-0.5 MPa and maintaining the pressure for 24 hours, must be done to reach close-fit between PE liner and steel pipe.
