Analysis on the Feasibility of Shenzhen LPG Storage Project

  • Shenzhen LPG Storage Project, having an estimated investment of 110 million US dollars, consists of two 4×104 t tanks (one for propane and one for butane), a 5×104 t berth for low temperature atmospheric tanks, and two 5×103 t berths for high pressure tanks. This project involving Chinese and foreign investments is now under construction and will be completed by the end of 1997. Introduced in this paper are the project planning, process program, economic analysis, as well as environmental evaluation. Through analysis and comparison, the process of direct refrigerating, low temperature and atmospheric storage is selected. Comparing with indirect refrigerating mode, this process is featured by simpler flow process and lower operation and management costs. Double containment metallic tanks with suspended roofs are adopted. Also analyzed is the seismic impact on tanks. Having such characteristics as advanced technology, simple equipment, low investment and short construction period, this project will improve the energy stockpiling capacity and create better investing environment for Guangdong Province.
