Pipe Stabilizing Methods in Swampy Area

  • It is one of the key items to stabilize the pipes when building pipelines in the swampy areas of Westen China, where the geological and climate conditions are complicated. The pipeline in swamp is subject to the stresses of steel pipe weight, the weight of medium transported as well as buoyancy. If the sum of the first three forces is less than the buoyancy on pipe, the pipe intends to rise, otherwise, it will falls. Based on these two cases, several methods for pipe stabilization are described in detail, and comparisons between them made. It is pointed out that pipe stabilization in swamp not only determines the safe and stable operation of the pipeline system, but the costs for pipeline construction in this area.
