A Study on Weather-proof, Static Electricity Conductive Coating

  • A variety of static electricity conductive coatings for internal protection of oil tanks are developed in recent years, but few of them are applicable to floating roof tank. The coating internally used on the tank wall above the foating r6of, which is subject to sun shine exposure.is required to have high electrostatic conductivity, corrosion resistance and weathreability. The paper introduces in detail the weather-proof, static electricity conductive coating of acrylic acid. Developed as a composite conductive coating, the product is made with polymerized acrylic resin being the main film former, and mixed with different carbon system. Specimen tests and comparisons with other types of coatings show that this material, having high weather-ability, oil resistibility, water resistance and mechanical strength, is specially suitable for internal protection of floating roof tanks.
