A Long-term Anticorrosion Measure for Oil Tank

  • The paper introduces a comprenensive, perfect long-term corrosion protection measure according to the properties of corrosion for oil tanks, that is, a way of using coating materials combined with CP for the internal tank wall, while using impressed current CP as well for the corrosions occured around the outer plates of tank bottom adjacent to the soil side. When internally applying to the tank wall, the special coating material of electrostatic conduction can be used to the overall tank wall except the internal bottom plate, because the anode dissolution will be speeded up to loss CP function if this material is in corporatelly used with sacrifice anode. As for CP for outer protection of tank bottom, sacrificial anode method and/or impressed current CP can be used. Several programs for anodes allocation of impressed current are recommended. Good protection results have been obtained, which is proved by inspections made for operating tank protected with the measures introduced in the paper; the protective potentials for inner plate and outer plate of tank bottom are -0.95 V and -0.9 V respectively.
