An Introduction to the Automatic Control System of Lun-Korla Crude Oil Pipeline

After the general description of Lun-Korla pipeline, the paper introduces the configuration and functions of its automatic control system. Pipeline operation control is executed by the station PLC's, which exchange information with IBM-6124 through the DH + Network. Station controllers communicate via microwave channels which the central computer. The reasons for the successful realization of automatic control in desert are pointed out: ①the application of the hardwares of high quality and reliability, and of the well developed softwares- 6200 series ladder diagram programmining softwares and control view programming softwares: ② the realization of instruction with Chinese characters, which is more convenient for operators; ③the realization of fault indication with indicators on hardwares, which simplizes the maintenance; ④ the engineering of control room which can withstand sandstorms and high temperature, in which automatic control system can operate normally.
