The Looped Yangtze River Crossing of Liangfo Pipeline

  • On the basis of the experiences and lessons drawn from other large river crossings of gas pipeline, the looped Huangqian Crossing for the southern section of Sichuan Gas Transmission Pipeline was duely designed and constructed in spite of difficult hydrolic and geologic conditions in the upstream of the Yangtze River. The crossing is located in the straight section of the "S" shaped course. Open-cut crossing method are adopted in the whole section. Large diameter pipeline weighted with concrete blocks is used, protected with purpose made corrosion control and sacrificial anodes. New techniques and equipments are adoped in construction to meet the design specifications. Comparing with the existing crossing, this pipeline is 400 m shorter in length, and 200 t of steel, 150 t of cement and 1 million (RMB) yuan are saved, with the earth work being considerably reduced. With the pipeline in operation, the safety and reliability of the southern section of Sichuan Gas T ransimission System is successfully improved.
