Analysis and Treatment of Gas Pipeline Bursting

  • The bursting of gas pipeline, a physical explosive phenomenon, is caused by the internal pressure of the e-quipment which exceeds the allowable working pressure. Bursting condition is analysed on the basis of pressure-flow equation PH2-Pk2=kQ2L. Upstream bursting can be concluded from such symptoms as great flow reduction in station, change of flow direction, flow rate increase and other equipment variations; Downstream bursting can be concluded if such symptoms are found as pressure reduction in station, suddden increase of flow rate, and "throttling refrigeration". It is pointed out that proper measures shall be taken according to specific bursting, so as to minimize loss and guaraqtee safe operation.
