Quality Control in the Process of Coating Steel Pipe with Epoxy

  • Epoxy used for the external coating of buried steel pipeline has excellent anti - corrosive and mechanical performances? However, still at its beginning of application in China, the specifications for application of this kind of coating have yet to be enacted and perfected, especially the specification for the quality control of application. Based on the relavent foreign information and Chinese experiences, this paper discusses the following three main aspects of quality control: ① raw material inspections, mainly including acceptance inspection and laboratory test; ② quality inspections of working routine, including the inspection of pipe surface condition, derusting, anchor pattern, surface dust and secondary contamination, preheated temperature, etc.; and ③ coating inspections, including the inspection of coating thickness, holidays, adhesion, curing performance test. etc.
