  • The paper explains the designing requirement for the adoption of redundant structure of SCADA system on the long distance pipeline. It means either system's safety and reliability should be realized or its economy and rationality should be reached, so that redundant equipment would be suitable. At the same time, it introduces five patterns of general redundant structure and their advantages and disadvantages. The author has made an introduction in detail for the installation of redundant structure of SCADA system on Dongying-Huangdao Parallel Oil Pipeline and has considered that the system design is fine. The design of redundant structure is a complexed technique and should be highly attracted the attention of leaders and technical engineers.
