Experimental Research on Resistance between Pipe Wall and Foundation Soil in the Process of Submarine Pipeline Towing and Laying

  • In towing and laying submarine pipeline at flooded zone, it is necessary to know the resistance characteristics between pipe wall and foundation soil. Based on the characterisics of soil quality at flooded zones offshore in China, the paper has determined the resistance characteristics along axial towing and tne sinking depth for three pipe diameters (325 mm, 529 mm and 720 mm) with application of one to one pipeline models. Thus, the valuable testing results have been achieved seperately and the important basis could be provided for the reference of pipeline engineering design and construction in similar condition.
