An Approach to Pipeline Construction in Swampland

  • Pipeline construction in swampland, as analysed in the article, used to subject to wretched working condition, snails pace, and hopelessness of construction quality. The author recommends "Reducing Water Level by Digging wells along the Line", in which the subwater level nearly is brough down by pumping it out so as to improve the working conditions and qarantee the construction quality. The distribution of wells depends on the factors such as the burried depth of pipelines, properties of soil, the flow direction of subwater, the depth of water downward, etc. Single or couble rows of well arrangement is adopted depending on physical gradient and the flow direction of subwater. This method is widely applicable except for such soil with too little or too great a permeability to drain water efficiently, or so much equipment in use as to affect economic efficiency. There are included the calculation formulas and the items to be noticed in construction. It is recommended to apply it in case of carrying out pipeline construction in swampland, water-net areas and higher subwater level areas.
