Sleeveless Road Crossing Probed

  • The pretective sheeves furnished for buried pipeline road crossing result in a series of defects such as higher investment, shielding formation, free from soil binding and inclination to displacement and damage of corrosion protective layer. Therefore, the authors of this article put forward another way to cross coad bare pipe, giving up sheeves, hacked up by experiments. It presents the different dynamic load exerted on 4 types of piping trunched without any medium and internal pnessure. The result shows that, so long as the soil around the pipe is rammed home, it is feasible to have pipes roadcrossed sheeveless, as both stress and strain are smaller and no problem so far as strength and rigidity are concerned. In fact, non-trunched crossing is safer than trunched crossing. The comparison between the actural value measured and the one calculated using Spangar's formula confirms that it is feasible to pre-estimate steel pipe deformation and stress.
