The Problems in Our Oil Storage Exposed in the Fire Accidents

  • 5 cases of oil storage fire are cited in the article as an exanuple to show the different reasons and lessons. as well as the many unsafety factors still existing in our management. No wonder, once a fire arises, we can do nothing to put it under control but let it go as it is and bring economic lost, injuries and even death to the people. For this reason, work must be intensified on both sides, e.i. design and operational management.Design must be made after the specifications as laid down in the Code for Design of Oil Storage. Remedy measures should be taken against any possible dangers for former utilitives in oil storage. the fire preventive space between oil storage and nearby buildings, any of which are not in accordance to the coderequirement. On the other hand, operaters must be technically trainpd and those unqualified are not allowed to be on post; anyone should observe the rules and regulations of operation; fire fighters should be ready and on guard all the time, and fire equipment maintained and put into use periodically, These are all for the same aim, safety.
