An Exploration of the Technology for Transporting SG High Vicouse Crude Oil Diluted

  • High viscous crude oil is generally transported by such means as of adding hight oil, heating, and getting it mixed with water. The article, based on the physical properties of SG crude oil, makes a technological exploration of the diluting transport project. It tas been found out through experiments that, when dilution ratio is set, the viscostyreducing effect is better at lower temperature than at higher temperature; while at the same temperature, the smaller the dilution ratio is, the better the viscosity-reducing effect. As for the calculation of the viscosity of the mixed oil, it points out, the defects in the lg-lg formula(1), KEDALE and MOLOE formula(2), are that the former turns out to have a difference of 80%between the value calculated and the one measured, and the latter's deviation is from -23%to 103%. They are obviously not proper to be used here. When lgμ-x%is of linear relationship, a formular(3) is generalized; the viscosity of mixed oil thus calculated is closer to the practical measurement. In addition, the article introduces the application of computers to optimum design, in particular, that of SG crude oil pipelines, backed up with some practices. In the end, the article makes a comparison between two ways of pipelineing SG crude oil, heating and diluting, explaining further that diluting technology of transportation is economical, rational, safe and flexible.
