The way to Save Energy in the Storage and Transport System of Refineries

  • The energy consumption in storage and tran-port systems considerably different between refineies owing to their respective technological slate, managing tacts and calculation methods. Generally speaking, it makes up 3% 9% of a refinery's total energy comsumption. As for the constitution of energy consumption the one mainly consumed is steam which comes up to 90% of the total, only a lictie fraction of it is electricity, and water which is consumed by no more than 1%. The major factors that affect the energy consumption in storage and transport bystems are: keeping the oil temperature as required during unloading, the steam reciprocal pumps power cousumption, the steam pipeline radiation loes the oil pipolines accompanying heat loss etc. Finaly, the author makes some suggestions to reduce refinery energy coinsumptions.
