The design of fire extinguishment system for large-scale oil tankfarm

The fire extinguishment system for large-scale oil tankfarm has been studied in order to significantly improve the firefighting safety level and reduce the fire probability. Based on fire risk analysis of large-scale oil tankfarm in terms of the oil properties and forms of oil stored, and some practical firefighting cases of large-scale oil tankfarm, the layout forms of tankfarms, the design of fire extinguishment system and water drainage system have been researched in the aspect of engineering design. It is considered that the part of current specifications does not meet the demands of firefighting for large-scale tankfarm, the diesel inventory for fire pump and the capacity of fire pool and foam tank should be enlarged appropriately. Finally, some suggestions of improvement direction in the road width of tankfarm, layout of tank group, allocation of fire bank, power source of pump chamber and setting up of fire accident buffer pool have been put forward, which will provide references to the engineering practice.
