Diffusion simulation on leaked oil for buried pipelines

  • Two-dimensional seepage physical and mathematical models for buried pipelines were established by dispersion simulation on the oil leakage of pipeline in different locations using CFD simulation software. The result showed that oil seepage surface in soil was inerratic for all leakage locations at initial period. Some time after leakage, the figure of oil seepage surface in oil surface became circular for the leakage at the top of pipeline, while the seepage boundary was a radiating shape for the leakage at the bottom or side of pipeline. Although the oil seepage boundary in soil was wider for the leakage at the top of pipeline than the leakage at two other positions, the overflow lengths in the ground surface for the three cases were almost the same. This result can provide a theoretical basis in using cable leakage detection technology for detecting leakage situation and leakage position.
