Scouring test of wax deposition layer

  • To predict wax deposition distribution in oil pipeline, especially the pipeline without pigging for a long period, is an important research direction. Because the forward-backward transportation process is used in Renqiu-Beijing Oil Pipeline, the wax deposition law of the pipeline is different from other oil pipelines. In this case, a cold finger (CF) device has been designed and installed in order to dynamically simulate the wax deposition of crude oil. Influences of temperature difference of oil CF, temperature range of crude oil and blending speed on wax precipitation point and deposition content are researched. The results show that temperature difference oil CF and temperature range are the main factor to affect wax deposition, and the wax precipitation point and deposition content are decreased with the increase of concentration gradient of wax molecular. Field experiments display that higher outlet oil temperature can effectively melt the wax layer attached on pipe wall, and little scouring effect is found on wax layer when increasing throughput.
