Throughput increasing experiment on YongHuNing Oil Pipeline by drag reduction agent injection

  • Field experiment of drag reduction agent (DRA) injection on Baishawan-Changxing-Shibuqiao pipeline section of YongHuNing Oil Pipeline was carried out in order to increase the throughput under the conditions of multiple oils and multiple batches. Baishawan Pump Station and Changxing Pump Station were selected as the injection points of DRA. The experiment in the whole line was divided into two stages, 30 mg/L and 40 mg/L. The data of oil section with DRA was traced to duly adjust the injection concentration and pumps started to increase throughput as possible. The average transportation rate during the two experimental stages was 9. 3% and 11. 6%, respectively. The experimental results indicated that DRA's throughput increasing effectiveness would be better if DRA's concentration were raised at a certain range. Sound effectiveness could be obtained through flexibly adjusting the concentration of DRA and operation of pump system according to the change of oil types.
