Temperature field on corner adiabatic structure of large-scale LNG storage tank

  • Corner adiabatic structure design is crucial for the adiabatic structure design of large-scale LNG storage tank. Regarding the corner adiabatic structure as a 2-dimensional problem, ANSYS software is used to analyze the distribution law of its temperature field and heat flux density.Resultsshow that the heat is mainly transmitted to tank through the concrete ring beam and the joint between tank bottom and tank wall. Therefore, to ensure the continuity of corner adiabatic structure is of great importance. At the same time, when designing the TCP to reduce the heat leak and increase the heat resistance, its general length is about 5 meters. Based on the transient heat analysis on the corner temperature during pre-cooling process, the temperature of tank decreases very slowly. At the initial stage, the tank wall temperature drops slowly with small temperature gradient, while the tank floor temperature decreases relatively fast with large temperature gradient. Therefore using lower temperature gas to precool the tank sufficiently is efficient to control the cooling of the entire tank.
