Abstract
In the context of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals", according to the requirements of China for LNG business development and low-carbon construction of LNG industrial chain, it is urgent to make statistics and accounting of greenhouse gas emissions from LNG terminals. Therefore, the current international calculation methods for greenhouse gas emissions were discussed, and a calculation method based on enterprise/project terminal consumption was proposed. A case study was carried out to an LNG receiving station with annual processing capacity of 480×104 t in the coastal region of Yangtze River Delta. Specifically, according to the specific business processes involved in LNG receiving, storage, processing and export, the categories of emission sources were classified and listed, and the greenhouse gas emission was calculated based on the historical data of the LNG terminal in a certain year, and finally the greenhouse gas emission level in the production process and production support was analyzed and counted. Feasible suggestions were provided for LNG terminal operators to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from four aspects, i. e. , popularizing and applying cold energy power generation technology, adopting energy-saving and carbonreducing measures, carbon capture and storage, and outsourcing green electricity, so as to lay a methodological foundation for China to build a mature national carbon market and bring natural gas industry into the national carbon trading system.
