Gas permeation behavior of PVDF composites modified by SiO2 nanoparticles

  • In order to improve the permeation performance of polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF), the surface modification was carried out to SiO2 with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (KH-550).The SiO2/PVDF nanocomposite was prepared by the melt blending method to study the effects of nanoparticles on the thermodynamic property, mechanical properties, and gas barrier property of the composite before and after modification.According to the results, the dispersion of the modified SiO2 (N-SiO2) in the matrix is significantly improved. The permeability coefficient of PVDF is significantly reduced after the addition of modified nanoparticles, but the barrier property of PVDF/N-SiO2 becomes better due to the good dispersion of the modified SiO2.Specifically, the 1.0%N-SiO2 has the permeability coefficient 18.6%lower than that of the pure PVDF and has the best barrier property. In addition, the permeability coefficient increases as the temperature rises.Generally, the research results could provide reference for improving the barrier property of lining in the flexible riser.(9 Figures, 2 Tables, 20 References)
