Research status and development trend of hydrogen energy industry chain and the storage and transportation technologies

  • In the context of actively dealing with global climate change and accelerating green and low-carbon development, hydrogen energy, as a new energy carrier and a potential fuel, has attracted more and more attention. Unlike the fossil fuels, hydrogen energy can actually achieve carbon neutralization. Herein, focusing on the transportation and application of hydrogen energy, analysis was performed for current research situation of a series of processes for the whole hydrogen energy industry chain: preparation, storage, transportation, fueling and terminal utilization. In addition, the key technical problems for the transportation and utilization of hydrogen energy were summarized, the future development trend was defined and suggestions were proposed accordingly. According to the analysis, some progress has been made in the research on hydrogen energy at home and abroad, but due to the bottlenecks of technical cost and safety, hydrogen energy has not been applied at a large scale. In the future, core technology research on the key links of hydrogen energy industry chain should be carried out to accelerate the development of hydrogen energy industry, so as to realize the hydrogen energy supply in an economical, safe and efficient way.
