Abstract
Along the pipeline of the middle section of the Third West-to-East Gas Pipeline project, the landform and topography are diverse and the geological conditions are complex. And especially in two mountain areas (Qinling of Shaanxi and Wugongshan of Jiangxi), landslide, collapse, debris flow and other geological hazards occur frequently. Consequently, the safe operation of the pipeline is faced with serious threats. Based on this, control design for the engineering geological hazard has been carried out. First, the geological hazards induced by construction are taken into account and active prevention and control is implemented. Second, the stability of the side slope in the section of transverse slope is calculated and the unstable side slope is treated. And third, pipeline construction is carried out after the geological hazards are treated. By taking these preventive measures, the number and damage of man-initiated geological hazards can be reduced effectively and thus the purpose of active prevention and control can be truly realized.
