Research progress of piezoelectric ultrasonic based pipeline corrosion in-line inspection technology

  • Piezoelectric ultrasonic based corrosion in-line inspection technology is of high detection sensitivity and can quantify the depth of corrosion defects directly. Due to its advantages, it has been widely used in the corrosion inspection of in-service liquid pipelines. In this paper, the basic principles of piezoelectric ultrasonic based pipeline corrosion inline inspection technology were analyzed, and its development status at home and abroad was reviewed. Besides, the performance and characteristics of three currently advanced piezoelectric ultrasonic based corrosion in-line inspection tools developed by the well-known foreign inspection company were listed. Finally, the future development direction of the piezoelectric ultrasonic based corrosion in-line inspection technology was pointed out. The research results provide the reference for the development of piezoelectric ultrasonic based pipeline corrosion in-line inspection technology in China.
