Latest progress of LNG cold energy utilization technology

  • As the proportion of clean energy in the energy consumption structure increases, domestic LNG consumption has been increasing rapidly. And correspondingly, the utilization of LNG cold energy is currently one of the research hotspots. In this paper, utilization situations of LNG cold energy at home and abroad were reviewed. Then, the technology development status of LNG cold energy applied for air separation, light hydrocarbon separation, low-temperature power generation, seawater desalination, carbon dioxide capture, low-temperature waste rubber crushing and refrigeration was analyzed. It is indicated that the industrial application of LNG cold energy in low-temperature power generation, lowtemperature cold storage and air liquefaction is mature in foreign countries. In China, extensive and in-depth theoretical and experimental researches are carried out on the utilization of LNG cold energy, but the practical application should be strengthened. To develop LNG cold energy utilization in China, it is necessary to combine foreign experience of successful engineering application with domestic rich theoretical and experimental research results. The research results can be used as the reference for the establishment of LNG cold energy utilization policies and the healthy and sustainable development of LNG cold energy utilization industry in China.
