Study status of extra external loading on ramp oil pipeline networks

  • In this paper, the research methods, simplified model and research status of extra external loading on ramp oil pipeline networks were reviewed. The external loading on buried pipelines mainly includes static loading and dynamic loading. The former is mainly related with fill loading and traffic loading, and the latter is mainly related with earthquake response. When the static loading was studied previously, the pipe-soil interaction was less considered. In the study of earthquake response, inertia force of pipes was not taken into consideration. In the future, it is necessary to investigate the random traffic dynamic loading which is closer to the real situations. The lateral and axial stresses of ramp pipelines can be reduced significantly by adopting appropriate pipe laying mode, burial depth and soil compaction degree.
