Design of rotating hanger for internal corrosion protection of vertical tanks and its application

Abstract
The construction for the traditional internal corrosion protection of vertical tanks is mostly realized by using fullhouse scaffolds or rotating scaffolds. They are essentially the operating platforms which are connected from top to bottom, their assembly and disassembly consume a lot of manpower and finance with high assembly cost and long disassembly time. In order to overcome the disadvantages (e.g. long working hours and low efficiency) in the construction for the traditional internal corrosion protection of vertical tanks, the rotating hanger was proposed. In this program, the traditional full-house scaffolds and double-row scaffolds were simplified into a symmetrical frame with a certain width that goes through the center of the tank. The function of rotating hanger was implemented by electric hoist lifts and screws. This program was applied to Mengzi oil depot, and results show that the economic benefits of the whole project were increased for the working time reduced by 45% and the operating cost decreased by 57%. The rotating hanger can effectively guarantee construction safety, reduce construction cost and improve construction quality.
