Abstract
In order to study the effect of wind load on pipeline suspension bridges, the finite element simulation model and the wind vibration simulation model were built up with the pipeline suspension bridge over the Yellow River in the first Shaanxi-Beijing Gas Pipeline as the research object. By means of the engineering verification method, the remote dynamic monitoring system of the bridge was used to compare the simulated stress change curve of the bridge span structure at the low wind speed (2.8 m/s) with the measured curve to verify the validity of the models and the simulation method. And then, the stress and displacement response of the bridge structure at the high wind speed (27 m/s) was investigated. It is shown that the stress of the bridge span is far less than the allowable one (240 MPa) and the effect of the alternating stress on the fatigue life of the bridge is negligible. The displacement of the bridge span is larger and reaches the maximum (over 0.5 m) at its 1/2 position. To sum up, the pipeline suspension bridge is a typical geometrically nonlinear structure with large displacement and small strain.
