Abstract
The viscosity calculation for heavy oil saturated with supercritical CO2 has low precision, and parameters related to the calculation are complex. All these problems should be solved, so a model was established based on empirical formula. In the new model, each parameter in the Lederer equation was calculated by means of the empirical formula, and particularly the reliable calculation methods based on empirical formula were provided for those parameters whose calculation methods were not presented, such as the viscosity of supercritical CO2 (μs), the volume factor (Fo), and the viscosity of dead heavy oil under high-pressure and high-temperature (μo). Based on this model, the viscosity of heavy oil saturated with supercritical CO2 can be calculated by setting temperature and pressure so long as the density of heavy oil in normal condition and the viscosity-temperature relationship of dead heavy oil are input. This model is easy to operate and can provide reliable prediction accuracy for the viscosity of heavy oil-CO2 mixtures which are in the category of Newtonian fluids.
