Design of closed-loop pipeline inspection platform based on integrity management

  • Pipeline inspection is one important link for safe operation of pipelines. When pipeline integrity management and pipeline inspection are combined together, the long-distance pipeline inspection can be managed more scientifically and normatively to promote the systematization, refinement and digitalization of pipeline inspection management. In this paper, a closed-loop pipeline inspection platform was built up using GPS, GIS and GPRS technologies, together with integrity management methods, so that pipeline inspection plans and missions can be issued dynamically. Based on the platform, the range of preset key points can be matched automatically with the inspection routes, so the inspection situations can be updated in real time and the inspection results can be inquired, analyzed and checked in real time as well. The closed-loop pipeline inspection platform provides powerful support for the supervision, assessment and history record management of pipeline inspection, so that the pipeline integrity management level is improved remarkably. Furthermore, it provides a reliable basis for pipeline planning, project approval and planned investment, so that the capital allocation is optimized and the economic benefits of pipeline operation are increased significantly.
