Management and control difficulties in the surface engineering of carbonate reservoirs and their countermeasures

  • Carbonate reservoirs are characterized by complex accumulation laws, large-scale development, and high-yield unstable production, so their project management and control of surface engineering are faced with great difficulties and challenges as follows. First, geological conditions are various, so productivity is not matched with construction when the production rate is uncertain. And second, it is difficult to carry out high-efficiency engineering construction in compliance with the regulations when it is required to produce rapidly. In order to solve these difficulties, the following countermeasures were proposed by the theories and methods of system management, risk management and project management, combined with the management modes of carbonate oil and gas field. It is necessary to identify and summarize the influential factors of project construction programs and establish the integrated project organization system of exploration, development and construction. These countermeasures were applied practically to the project construction of Tazhong surface engineering in the Tarim Oilfield. And it is indicated that project decision rationality and construction efficiency can be improved significantly when the integrated model and the project management mode are used jointly for the surface engineering construction of carbonate reservoirs.
