Research progress of strain analysis methods for buried pipelines under faulting process

  • Active fault is one major threatening factor for buried pipelines in strong seismic zones. Pipelines get failed due to the large tension or compression strain caused by the faulting. After the domestic and foreign strain analysis methods for buried pipelines under the action of faulting were reviewed, their research progress was illustrated from the aspects of analytical analysis, numerical simulation and experimental study, especially the recent breakthroughs of experimental study all over the world. Then, their current research trends were comparatively analyzed and the gap between domestic research and foreign research was pointed out. And finally, the deficiencies and future development targets of these strain analysis methods were proposed on the basis of actual engineering requirements.
