Simulation on operation of gas pipelines with turbines drived compressor sets in hot weather

  • When long-distance gas pipelines are equipped with turbines drived compressor sets, the maximum output power and operational efficiency of gas turbines will decrease because of hot weather. As a result, the flow capacity of gas pipelines will diminish as well. In this paper, the transient simulation was performed on the operation behavior of Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline in hot weather of summer using SPS software. And based on actual production data, the parameters inputted into the software were corrected by means of the "moving curve" method, so that the deviation between the simulation results and the actual behavior was within a reasonable range. After a series of analyses were conducted on the gas turbine power characteristics and the pipeline behavior variation rules, a complete compressor set control mode which combines pressure control and maximum available power control together is proposed on the basis of operation control. In this way, the gas source in the case of hot weather can be supplied according to the contract and self-consuming gas can be reduced effectively.
