Research status of high-performance oil and gas pipelines in China and abroad

  • Based on the development direction of high-performance oil and gas pipelines, ultra-high strength steel pipelines, low-temperature resistant steel pipelines, corrosion resistant pipelines, large-strain steel pipelines and deepwater oil and gas development pipelines were presented from the aspects of the demand, requirements on chemical composition and mechanical properties, and R & D and engineering application in China and abroad. It is shown that domestic highperformance oil and gas pipelines still lag behind, compared with the international advanced level. It is suggested that domestic manufacturers and research institutions should carry out joint research to increase the performance stability of ultra-high strength steel pipelines, large-strain steel pipelines and deepwater oil and gas development pipelines, and to solve the problems related with low-temperature resistant pipelines and corrosion resistant pipelines, such as the determination of toughness index of low-temperature resistant pipelines and material selection of corrosion resistant pipelines.
