Pipeline route survey for productivity building projects in Block Baode, Eastern Ordos Gasfield

  • The productivity building project for Block Baode, Eastern Ordos Gasfield, has constructed pipelines with total length of 397 km. Complicated topographic and geologic conditions are distributed along the pipelines. In addition, the pipelines are characterized by light materials and minor diameters. Consequently, route surveys may usher in a new area that involves certain particularity and complexity. Techniques deployed for survey of coal bed methane (CBM) pipeline routes in loess areas are summarized in aspects of objectives, technical requirements, techniques and key points for such surveys. Additionally, engineering geologic conditions that may have significant impacts on pipeline design and relevant construction activities are highlighted. Relevant research results may provide foundations and references for route surveys for similar pipelines in the future.
