Practices of energy-saving and emission-reduction in China West Crude Oil Pipeline

  • To reduce the energy consumption and environmental pollution during operation of pipeline, optimization is carried out on China West Crude Oil Pipeline. Some improvements or transformations are adopted, i.e., (1) transporting oil products as per optimal pump configuration at no-throttling throughput, (2) optimizing the delivery mode of trunk line by production library offtake before master pumps, (3) replacing fuel oil with natural gas for the heating furnace at the initial pump station in winter, (4) adding a set of oil-to-oil heat exchanger on the basis of original heating system at the initial pump station, (5) controlling the heat treatment temperature of oil transportation in winter, and (6) optimizing the distribution of heating furnace. Thus power consumption of the whole line and fuel gas consumption of heating furnace are reduced effectively. The loss of pressure energy and heat energy is decreased which lead to the decline on the expense of pipeline operation, relieve the operating pressure and lower operating risk of pipeline.
