HPPP-based Pigsar gas flowmeter calibration facility

  • Metering is a key sector in natural gas trade. This paper reviews current situations of gas flowmeter calibration facilities in China and abroad, analyzes advantages and disadvantages of such facilities with different primary standards, and introduces the process flow, value dissemination and operation principle of Pigsar gas flowmeter calibration facility based on HPPP method. This facility is characterized by steady flow rate and high accuracy. However, due to technical limitations, the HPPP-based facility is not extensively adopted in China. This paper discusses the feasibility of the facility in China. Practical application in Wuhan Gas Compressor Station showed that the HPPP-based facility can be deployed to effectively calibrate large-diameter and high-pressure gas flowmeters in China, except that reduction in pipe volume may negatively impact calibration accuracy.
