Solutions to match the parameters between flowmeter and pressure control valve at city gas gate station

  • Flowmeter and pressure control valve play an important role in the distribution system of gate station in a city. However, their working ranges are different, leading to inconsistency of the best working sensitivity interval. In this case, the flowmeter or pressure control valve may be damaged. In this paper, through the analysis on working principles of the flowmeter and pressure control valve, the reasons why the devices do not match are identified. Two solutions are put forward: (1) the line number of pressure regulation is added and the rated working flow rate of each pressure control valve is lowered; and (2) on the basis of original configuration with 1 in service and 1 standby, additional one line for pressure regulation with small flow rate is provided, which is 1/3 of the rated flowrate, so as to achieve switch of pressure control valve at different flow rates. In this way, the flowmeter and pressure control valve can both work within the best working interval to reduce the probability of equipment damage.
